Enlarged pores on the face can be the result of many factors. Skin with such a problem is prone to over-activity of the sebaceous glands, where the excessive secretion of sebum causes the pores to get clogged when the oil hardens. Over a period of time, excessive oil secretion and clogging thicken the pores and enlarge them. As a result, the complexion begins to look coarse and loses its smooth, porcelain quality. It can also be due to loss of collagen in the dermis of the skin, which renders the skin having no supportive structure and as a result the pores look lax, dilated or pitted.
